1.5 starsIn the wise words of my fellow GR friend Kiara, this book is actually twilight with aliens.I'm not a very hard reader to please. I'm not a snob when it comes to books, if I have fun while reading a book whether it's UF or paranormal or even a children's book, I'm happy. I love reading so if any book keeps me up at night and makes me feel something regardless of the genre, I'll rave about it. Just give me a good story and decent writing, that's all I ask.Obsidian is unfortunately a book that bored me. I've no problems with the general outline of the story or with the characters. The biggest problem I had with this book was with it's writing. It was really amateur and bland with gems like 'A craving unfurled deep in my stomach, shooting through me like heated lightening.'scattered through the pages. I mean I like me some chemistry and sexual tension but the way the author potrayed that in this book between Daemen and Katy through her corny writing was just silly. The plot is sommething that has been re-hashed in numerous paranormal romances. A hot guy who is a jerk to the really beautiful (but of course she doesn't know that) girl who does a lot of dumb stuff. The guy is being a jerk to keep her away from him for own safety of course. Blah Blah Blah. The author tried to explain Daemen and other aliens' super-powers but I couldn't grasp the nuances of it. Well I did but I thought they were pretty lame. The only saving grace of this book IMO was Katy's love for books. As an avid reader I loved that about her. And unlike a lot of books whose female characters have this hobby but we never get to see them read/talk about books, it's actually a part of this book. So the extra half point is for Katy's book review blog.
